Let’s Write A Story!
RGV Writers’ Connection
McAllen, Texas
I was watching symphonies from around the world serenade us on YouTube. The screen filled with musicians playing their hearts out from their homes. Looking casual in home attire, their melodious music still took us to heights unknown. My heart was filled with joy and love and so much gratitude for what they were giving us. I knew I would never see them in person but now, during this horrendous pandemic, I had the gift of seeing them, floating along with them on their rivers of harmony. I felt humbled.
What could I, a mostly unknown writer, do to help and entertain? The idea hit to have writers of the Rio Grande Valley join together to write a continuous story. I thought people would enjoy the story, watch how different writer’s write, learn about different genres and maybe take their minds off their worries for a little part of the day. At least it sounded good to me. I sent out the word to the RGV Writers’ Connection, my Meetup group, Valley Byliners and other writers of the Valley groups.
18 writers signed up, some I knew and many I didn’t. I got excited.
The rules were set:
-
First story prompt: It was March 12th and the Corona virus was spreading. That was all the first person had to start.
-
They had 500-1000 words to tell their story in their favorite genre.
-
No porn and it must be family readable.
-
Has to keep the continuous flow of the story from one writer to the next.
Here are the results. Read on! We will be adding videos of each writer reading their stories. Keep a watch for those. Should be a unique way to enjoy these talented writers. Just click on a link before to start reading.
